What I Do

AMPLIFIED electronics specializes in tube and solid state guitar and bass amps, providing repairs, tune-ups, re-tubing, and restorations. Another passion is guitar pedals, because I know that nothing is as satisfying as matching a great amp with killer effects.

I also repair:
• power amps like US-made QSC, Yorkville, Bryston, Japanese-made Yamaha, UK-made HH
• powered monitors like Mackie SRM450's (NOT V2 or V3), Yorkville, US-made JBL Eons
• studio monitors like US-made Mackie, Genelecs, Tannoys
• mixers like US-made Mackie, Japanese-made Yamaha, MIDAS
• effects processors that are Japanese-, US-, UK-, or German-made.

I think you get the picture: I will gladly repair anything that was built to be repaired.

What I DON'T Do

I DON'T work on gear designed to fail the day after the warranty expires.

I DON'T accept shipped items at this time, only items walked into the shop.

I DON'T repair synths, DJ gear, guitars, or passive speakers. For those, I recommend:

I am not doing any manufacturer's warranty work at this time.

About

I love the work I do. I've been fascinated by electricity ever since getting a brain-rattling shock when I stuck my finger in a Christmas tree light socket when I was five years old. I took apart the family TV at eleven, and built my first radio at twelve.

When I was thirteen, the second piece of the puzzle fell into place. My buddy's older brother, a DJ, had an INCREDIBLE stereo, and he played me a record that forever changed my life. After hearing the first minute of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, I knew I wanted to combine my passions for electronics and music.

Since then, I've worked as engineer and technician at studios in Toronto and Vancouver, and done quality control for an amp manufacturer. More "recently", I ran the service department at Backline Musician Services for almost 20 years, and did over 35,000 repairs.

At Backline, I found myself repairing too much low-end gear, and too little of what I really enjoy repairing. With AMPLIFIED electronics, I'm focusing on the gear I love: guitar amps, bass amps, pedals, power amps, and well-made mixers and processors.

AMPLIFIED electronics is located at 1424 Frances Street in East Vancouver, between Clark Drive and Commercial, and open
Tuesday-Thursday 10am - 5pm
Friday                          10am - 6pm
I am in and out of the shop intermittently, so please call me before you drop by. (Amplified is closed on weekends, Mondays, and statutory holidays.)

If you're coming from the East (Burnaby, Surrey, etc.)
• Follow Highway #1 West and take 1st Ave. Westbound exit.
• Turn North (right) on Clark Drive.
• Turn East (right) onto Frances.
   I'm in the big black & red building on the south side.

If you're coming from the North (Whistler, North Van, West Van etc.)
• Head South on Highway #1 and turn off at Hastings Street.
• Head West on Hastings, then turn South onto Clark Drive.
• Turn East (left) onto Frances.
   I'm in the big black & red building on the south side.

If you're coming from the South
• Take the exit for Knight Street from Highway #99.
• Head north along Knight Street - it turns into Clark at approx. 16th Ave.
• Continue on Clark past 1st Ave and turn East (right) onto Frances.
I'm in the big black & red building on the south side.

If you're taking Public Transit (Bus or Skytrain)
• Buses that go along Clark/Knight Street, Hastings, or Commercial can bring you within two or three blocks of here.
